Dr. Marinos Papadopoulos is an Attorney-at-Law registered at the Athens Bar Association since 1996. He holds a PhD acquired from Athens Law School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens in the subject of Copyright on the Internet with a focus on Openness in American (USA), European and Greek law. Intellectual Property (both Copyright and Industrial property) as well as Internet Law (Domain Names, Civil, Criminal, and Business Law) are areas of legal professional services in which Dr. Marinos Papadopoulos has gained professional experience and has practiced regularly both in front of National and International-European Judicial and/or Arbitration Authorities.
He, also, holds a degree from Athens Law School and a Master of Science from Boston University in the discipline of Corporate Communication & Corporate Public Relations. Additionally, he has graduate studies at Harvard University in the discipline of Internet Law as well as at the George Washington University in the discipline of Management. Dr. Marinos Papadopoulos is an active participant in international fora related to Internet Law (Information Technology and Law with a focus on relevant subject matters to Intellectual/Industrial Property), Information Society, and Digital Strategy. He has served as the Legal Lead for the Creative Commons licenses in Greece being the contractor of National Research & Technology Network s.a. for creating the Creative Commons licenses (Greek v.2.5 & 3.0) in Greece; he is, also, a founding member and member of the Board of Directors of Open Knowledge Foundation Greece and creator of Open Data Commons Open Database License (Greek v.1.0) in Greece.
He’s been the Legal Consultant & Attorney-at-Law responsible for the National Library of Greece’s planning and implementation of Openness strategy as of its relocation to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. He’s been member of Academy for Strategic Analyses, and he has served as a member and/or member of the Board of Directors in other influential Non-Governmental and Professional Organizations in Greece. Dr. Marinos Papadopoulos has gained experience as visiting lecturer in Universities in Greece, specialized scientist and legal advisor in many innovative projects with a focus on Information Technology and Intellectual/Industrial Property Law. Dr. Marinos Papadopoulos has been selected to teach European Trade Mark Law and Policy in the University of New York in Prague in the framework of Master of Laws (LLM) program offered in co-operation with the University of Bolton. The aforesaid LLM program of University of New York in Prague & University of Bolton focuses on the legal framework governing the European and international community, as well as various legal issues surrounding international trade and global markets.
Additionally, Dr. Marinos Papadopoulos has extensive participation in Information Technology & Law projects funded by the European Commission and implemented in Greece and abroad (Europe & Asia). He provides clients with professional lawyer’s services both nationally and Europe-wide. His authorship includes many scientific papers and articles as well as academic and science publications in Greece, USA, UK, India, and Australia.
